Title: Blood Bonded
Author: icarusancalion
Recipient: pinch-hitter #1 skinscript (Also written for everbright as a thank you for her gift.)
Pairing: Lorne/Ronon
Rating: PG-13
Author's Notes: I could not resist such an odd pair. Even more pleased that Pinch-hitter #1 turned out to be the intelligent and hard-working skinscript.
Summary: Lorne pounded the first thing within reach -- which turned out to be Ronon's stomach. "Gimme your pulse pistol." The team blinked in surprise when Ronon simply handed it over.

Blood Bonded
by Icarus

The Wraith Darts whined overhead where two SG teams had taken cover with several cages of ducks. The honking ducks meant their cover was already blown.

Lorne pounded the first thing within reach -- which turned out to be Ronon's stomach. "Gimme your pulse pistol."

The team blinked in surprise when Ronon simply handed it over.

"Watch this." Lorne sighted, one eye winked closed. He fired, shearing the front tip off a Dart. It lurched into the ground and exploded.

Ronon grinned and motioned for his gun back. Holding it with both hands he dipped around their rock. "Oh yeah?"

With two pulses he nailed the wing of a Dart, which spurted sparks, spinning it into a spiral until it obliterated a tree. The two of them laughed.

"Gimme, gimme!" Lorne said, trading Ronon his P-90. A Dart was getting away towards the village, the back end of it glowing red. Without hesitating he fired at the escaping red engine.

It died. Just died. Then crashed, plowing the dirt with a spray of smoke and bracken.

"No, that's not gonna do it." Ronon seized a bow from a nearby villager and grabbed one of their tar-dipped flaming arrows: the other reason they didn't have much cover. He lit it and let fly.

His first arrow simply hit the bracken, licking it with flames.

The second stuck in the side of the Dart. "It won't get out fast enough," he said. He fired a third arrow into the chest of an approaching drone.

"You guys mind?!" A panicked McKay had emptied his Baretta, but more drones had poured through the gate before it had finally shut down.

The Dart in the bracken exploded.

"This is perfect," Lorne said, taking in the clearing. He unclipped something from his vest, yelled, "Everybody down!" and threw a little bouncing silver globe. The drones stared at it.

Sheppard evidently knew what it was. He grabbed a blank-faced McKay by collar of his vest and pulled him face-first into the dirt. "Down, Rodney!" He curled like a ball around his teammate. The villagers followed suit.

The detonation was more a silent implosion, a deep thundering boom somewhere beyond the limits of human hearing.

Moments later, Ronon poked his head up first. Followed closely by Sheppard. No crater, no burning. But every Wraith around the Stargate was out cold. The ducks were, too, strangely enough, though they appeared to be still alive.

Lorne scrambled up beside Ronon, brushing the dead leaves off his vest. "We've got about half an hour to pick 'em off."

"Where'd you get a Goa'uld granade?" McKay spluttered as he sat up, rubbing dirt out of his hair.

"Nice, isn't it? I've been saving that one."

He grinned at Ronon. With handguns, he and Ronon waded across the clearing, calmly shooting unconscious Wraith.

"Am I the only one who finds those two disturbing?" McKay asked. "I mean, not that I don't appreciate a few less Wraith and the Geneva convention doesn't apply to soul-sucking aliens, but is that really necessary? My moral relativism doesn't extend to shooting unarmed prisoners."

"These are merely drones. The Hive would abandon them regardless," Teyla said. "But even one can survive in the woods and feed on the villagers for many years."

"Ah. Good point," Rodney said.

"And yes," Sheppard added slowly, watching as Ronon switched to his pulse pistol and blew the mask off a drone, "They are a little disturbing." Lorne put one bullet in a drone, then used a spray of bullets from his P-90 to send another's mask flying, saying, "I can't get your distance...."

"Though it's nice to see them getting on," Sheppard said.

Ronon motioned for the P-90. "Maybe a different angle....'

"Indeed, they are good friends," Teyla agreed with a fond smile.

They are. This is probably not what skinscript had in mind by Lorne/Ronon, of course. ;)

Blood Bonded
Thank you so much for the story! I'm so sorry it took me so long to review; I was away for almost a month in Seattle without my own laptop. :/

I really like the approach you took to showing these guys bonding; weapons are such a great unifier.:)

Re: Blood Bonded
You know it's funny, I was just looking back at this snippet and thinking, "ahhh, I must've posted it too long after SGA Santa ended."

Glad you liked it. Grateful you saw it.
